Incinerator Art Award: Art For Social Change

Applications for the 2017 exhibition are now open and close on 5 June 2017.

The Incinerator Art Award is the gallery's annual contemporary art prize, open to all visual art forms with a total non- acquisitive prize pool of $14,000. Entries are invited from across Australia and three prizes are awarded of $10,000, $3,000 and a People's Choice Prize of $1,000.

The award is inspired by the original architects of the Incinerator Gallery, Walter Burley Griffin and Marion Mahony, who believed that art and architecture practices are ethical enterprises that should aim to bring about positive social change.

Works will be selected based on artistic merit and a relationship to themes of environment, society and sustainability. The prizes are awarded by experienced judges invited from the artistic community.
