Essendon Choral Society present Elijah

25 Mar at 2.30pm

By Felix Mendelssohn

Essendon Choral Society and Singularity join to present Felix Mendelssohn’s splendid oratorio ELIJAH, accompanied by distinguished soloists, the Melbourne Opera Orchestra and conducted by Greg Hocking AM.

Mendelssohn has been regarded as a genius in his own time and since. ELIJAH was commissioned for the Birmingham Triennial Music Festival in 1846, where it premiered in the presence of Queen Victoria. It is recognised as one of his principal works, and now, it is with great pleasure that we offer this occasion at the Clocktower Centre to relive and hear afresh the polished beauty of his music.
