Hook Turn Orchestra

Showcasing jazz classics and selections from eclectic and celebrated film scores, Hook Turn Orchestra presents music that sprang to life on the silver screen.

The stunning vocals of musical theatre and film star Alinta Chidzey (West Side Story, Jesus Christ Superstar, Wentworth) are accompanied by an ensemble of Melbourne’s most accomplished jazz musicians and members of Melbourne Symphony Orchestra/Orchestra Victoria.

Melding the worlds of jazz, musical theatre and classical concert halls, this project seeks to reinvent much-loved classics and under appreciated film score masterpieces alike. From Melbourne Recital Centre to Hamer Hall and their most recent album release, Jazz and the Silver Screen features evocative music from all continents of the world.

The exquisite string quartet is comprised of players from the Melbourne Symphony and Orchestra Victoria led by 1st violinist and arranger, Roger Young. They are augmented by Dutch jazz saxophonist/arranger Remco Keijzer, Sam Keevers on piano, bassist Tom Lee, Hugh Harvey on drums with songs brought to life by the versatile vocals of Alinta Chidzey.
