This farcical production pays tribute to musicals of the Jazz Age, breaking the traditional formula of musicals, instead presenting as a show within a show.
We delve into the world of a man, sitting in his chair in his living room, reminiscing one of his favourite musicals, 'The Drowsy Chaperone'. As he plays the record we take a trip back in time to the 1920s for the wedding of glamourous show girl, Janet Van De Graaff, to the dashing Robert Martin.
When Janet decides to give up show business to follow her heart, her producer, Mr Feldzieg has no choice but to intervene and try to stop the wedding or he will lose his leading lady. With the threat of two menacing gangsters, spurring him on, Feldzieg decides to recruit renowned ladies’ man, Aldolpho to seduce the bride. When a case of mistaken identity causes Aldolpho to pursue Janet’s chaperone instead, what follows is a complicated web of mayhem, madness and ridiculous misunderstandings
